This nearly 1200 year old town is located near the river of the same name called Nidda. Its market square with its historical well, surrounded by idyllic alleys with affectionately reconditioned framework constructed houses is the starting point for a town-walk. The beautiful old part of the town offers numerous specialist shops as well as a very comfortable restaurants and cafes. Plenty of history, but also futureprospects characterize the image of the town with its 18 boroughs, including the spa in Bad Salzhausen (Staatsbad Bad Salzhausen). Nidda is a lively town, including all kinds of businesses. Nidda is also an important residential, administrative and service centre. It also provides all important types of school to ensure the efficiency in the future. More than 200 associations, numerous sport and leisure facilities and maintained footpaths and cycle tracks are an indication of an active, vital life. The oldest written documents about Nidda originate from the years 802 to 817 A.D. The history of the town of Nidda is the history of its boroughs: Since the development of the individual boroughs went quite differently, each of them contributes to a multifaceted still harmonic community with their special features and historic characteristics.

Sightseeing:

Old part of the town with market place and well: Numerous half-timbered houses circle the old sandstone well with the coat of arms of Nidda.

Johanniter Tower: The tower was added to the existing Romanesque nave in 1491-92 is still recognizable from the mortar in the Johanniterchurch. Today the earlier gable is still recognizable from the remains of the mortar in the tower.    

Lutheran Town Church „Zum Heiligen Geist“(“To The Holy Spirit“): The oldest hessian church. Castle: On the foundations of the old water castle of Earl Bertold of Nidda was built a Renaissance castle (around 1600). It served as seat for the officials, who were used by the land earls from Hessen Darmstadt for administration.    
 Bad Salzhausen: Different buildings from late Baroque to Classicism, and a historical water wheel.

Geiß-Nidda: Protestant parish church with early Gothic basilica, the oldest part is the tower built around 1200. Church Ulfa: At church services here the oldest church-bells of Hessen chime. The three peals of bells (Dreiergeläut) originate from the year 1334.
